MIT Solve

• Global Challenges:  MIT Solve issues open calls for solutions to specific global challenges, which could range from sustainable agriculture and clean water access to financial inclusion and mental health.

• Solvers:  Entrepreneurs, startups, non-profits, and individuals from around the world submit their solutions to these challenges. The selection process is competitive, and the solutions are evaluated on their impact, scalability, and innovation.

• Funding & Support:  After the submission phase, selected solvers may receive funding, mentorship, and connections to a global network of partners, including corporations, investors, governments, and philanthropists. MIT Solve acts as a bridge to help bring these solutions to scale.

• Collaboration:  MIT Solve also hosts events like the Solve Challenge Finals, where finalists pitch their solutions and engage with stakeholders, including potential funders and collaborators.

Challenge Launch: MIT Solve usually opens its new Global Challenges around April or May each year. These challenges are announced publicly, and they outline the specific issues that MIT Solve is seeking solutions for.

Submission Period: Entrepreneurs, innovators, and organizations are invited to submit their solutions in response to the challenges. The submission period typically runs from May to July (though exact dates can vary). During this time, applicants submit their solutions and a detailed description of how their project addresses the problem.

Finalists Announcement: After the submission deadline, MIT Solve reviews the applications and selects a group of finalists. These finalists are usually announced around August or September. They’re chosen based on the innovation, scalability, impact, and sustainability of their solutions.

Solve Challenge Finals: The Solve Challenge Finals generally take place in September or October. This is a major event where selected finalists pitch their solutions to a panel of judges, funders, and other stakeholders. During the event, they have the opportunity to receive funding, mentorship, and partnerships that can help them scale their impact.

• Ongoing Support: After the Solve Challenge Finals, MIT Solve continues to support selected solvers by connecting them with mentors, investors, and partners who can help scale their solutions.
